10 Tips to Help Tech Grads Enter the Workforce

Most of the articles we post here are written for consumption by employers and other stakeholders in the endeavour to find, recruit and hold on to the good people needed to help the company grow and flourish now and in the future. Occasionally, it is informative to see what advice is being given to those on the other side of the recruiting equation, the job seekers.
This article examines the complaints employers have regarding today’s newly graduated “Tech” students in terms of their readiness for the workforce. In an effort to help these tech grads enter the workforce, it offers 10 tips, such as:

  • Targeting companies by creating a “wish list” that best describes where you want to work
  • Crafting a professional resume and customizing it for the companies on your wish list
  • Developing a positioning statement or elevator pitch that highlights your key strengths
