The Workforce Planning Board of York Region and Bradford West Gwillimbury is pleased to announce that it has received Sector Partnership Planning Grant (SPPG) funding to undertake a research analysis project that identifies and examines the skills needed by employers in ICT, Finance and Advanced Manufacturing sectors and the skills possessed by underemployed youth, displaced lower skilled workers and skilled newcomers who are job seeking in the local labour market.
Partners on this project include: Region of York, Seneca College, and York University.
Activities for this project include literature reviews, key informant focus groups that consist of representatives from both the supply and demand side as well as community stakeholders. Validation of findings and a final report that contains recommendations will be developed.
WPBoard will invite members of the Employer Leadership Council, employers at large, Employment Ontario and Ontario Works clients as well as work with Literacy Councils and Welcome Centres to reach the target audience for the development of the research findings.
More information and invitations to participate in focus groups will follow in the coming weeks.
