What is a Co-op?
Co-ops are paid work terms, typically 4 months in length for a student in a Post-Secondary Education (PSE) institution with an experiential learning component to the education program related to their field of study.
What is an Internship?
Internships are paid work-terms that is 4 to 16 months in length and take place near the end of the students related education program allowing them to apply the skills and knowledge they have acquired from their post secondary education.
What is a Field Placement
Field Placements are short-term, unpaid work placements that provide students with supervised hands-on experience within their field of study.

The Co-op program at Brock relating to Education gives employers the opportunity chance to select students that have job experience in the field while at the same time have a well-rounded education. Employers can choose students for, four-month terms.

You can host students from any Social Science discipline in Internships (paid work opportunities) to assist you with achieving your company objectives, or in Career Placements (unpaid job shadow experiences) to mentor and inform students about future careers. The Social Sciences Internship Program is a voluntary program that allows undergraduate students to actively engage in paid work opportunities and explore careers in fields related to their academic studies over a 4, 8, 12 or 16 month period in a part-time or full-time capacity.

The University of Ontario Institute of Technology offers optional co-op and internship opportunities in a wide range of programs. All 16-month Consecutive BEd students take part in several field experience placements. Concurrent Education students will have 100 days of school experience. Employers can choose students out of Western’s two year, four-term Bachelor of Education program. These students can provide an employer field placements of a length of 27 weeks.

Employers can find students who often take the majors below, that can lead them into the education sector. Arts co-op students complete two work terms of four months each in the summer following their second and third years of study.
Laurier’s Faculty of Education offers a Bachelor of Education degree provides employers, prepared students that will learn hands-on education necessary to go into the classroom, as well as the theoretical and research background to further knowledge and help in other areas of education.
