What is a Co-op?

Co-ops are paid work terms, typically 4 months in length for a student in a Post-Secondary Education (PSE) institution with an experiental learning component to the education program related to their field of study.

What is an Internship?

Internships are paid work-terms that is 4 to 16 months in length and take place near the end of the students related education program allowing them to apply the skills and knowledge they have acquired from their post secondary education.

What is a Field Placement

Field Placements are short-term, unpaid work placements that provide students with supervised hands-on experience within their field of study.

Sheridan College Institute of Technology and Advanced Learning – Oakville, ON

Employers can find students who often take the majors below, that can lead them into the education sector. Arts co-op students complete two work terms of four months each in the summer following their second and third years of study.
Laurier’s Faculty of Education offers a Bachelor of Education degree provides employers, prepared students that will learn hands-on education necessary to go into the classroom, as well as the theoretical and research background to further knowledge and help in other areas of education. Employers can choose a student for at least 2 days each week in a Professional Development School (PDS) placement throughout 2 years, in addition to your 5 block practicum placements for the Bachelor of Education (BEd) program.
