York Region is home to 167,800 businesses that employ over 560,000 people adding on average 12,000 new jobs annually. 117,500 of those identified businesses are single owner operated and employ zero employees. The remaining businesses are predominately small and medium enterprises (SME’s).
An employer’s workforce is their greatest asset and the opportunity to identify techniques to improve the hiring, retention and engagement process to ensure a committed productive workforce is beneficial to all employers.
Video’s resulting from Tomorrow’s Race for Talent employer event captures relevant messages for today’s employers regardless of their size or the sector they represent. The integration of boomers and millennials, working together as a team and defining a workers’ purpose are all relevant topics in today’s labour market.
The Employer Leadership Council (ELC) is a project of the Workforce Planning Board of York Region to support employers in the development of their workforce. The ELC is a unique forum for local employers to discuss experiences, challenges and concerns in recruiting and retaining good employees.
