    The Point, Click, Connect Program is a digital literacy training program targeted to underrepresented groups across York Region, including Indigenous, low-income, seniors, persons with disabilities, and newcomers. Throughout the one-week course, clients will learn basic computer skills enabling safe internet practices, effectively increasing their self-confidence. The Program is supported by a dedicated team of technologically savvy professional trainers and delivered online and at multiple locations in the northern and southern York region, including Job Skills, Welcome Centre and community partner locations. Computer equipment is provided during the program.   • Pathways to Early Childhood Education (ECE) for Internationally Trained Individuals

    This is a 12- week online program which includes a 4 week paid work placement. During the 12 weeks of the program, participants will benefit from:  Sector- specific language training by a COSTI English Instructor  Employment Preparation and job readiness support  Credential evaluation and support to obtain ECE accreditation  Technical training including Free CPR and First Aid (Level C) Training, Mental Health First Aid, Workplace Health and Safety and Food Handling Certification  4 Weeks Paid work placement with a licensed Child Care Center or EarlyON Child and Family Centre  Early Childhood Education course upgrading with a certified Ontario college Program’s Eligibility Criteria: • Newcomers – Permanent Residents, Convention Refugees or naturalized Canadian Citizens • Professional experience from outside Canada as Early Childhood Educators, Preschool Teachers & Primary Teachers, Bachelors’ of Arts Degree in other related fields such as Psychology, Sociology • English proficiency: CLB Level 5 • Resident of York Region

  • Base 4 Success (B4S)

    Training

    The B4S Program is a 12 week paid employment program offered to youth aged 15-30 who face barriers with employment. The first 4 weeks of the program consist of daily workshops (Monday-Friday 10am-4pm) that are facilitated by 360 Kids Staff. The remaining 8 weeks include a paid work placement. Participants are paid $16.50/hr (minimum wage) for attending the workshops and work placement. Participants are provided with certification opportunities for Smart Serve, WHMIS and Food Handlers, and training in employment and life skill topics such as budgeting, stress management, interpersonal communication, conflict resolution, healthy relationships, self-care and time management, financial literacy, and personal mental health management. While youth are in their employment placements, we provide ongoing support and coaching to assist them in overcoming challenges in retaining long- term meaningful employment.   • Early Childhood Educator Assistant Program (ECEA)

    This program is designed to provide support and training for internationally trained individuals and residents of York Region with child care credentials or child care experience looking to re-enter the workforce. Through the ECEA program, participants are provided with the education and training required to work in a licensed child care facility in Ontario that addresses current regulations/requirements and overcomes identified skills gaps and employment barriers. The ECEA initiative is a four-week program, with sessions specific to topics and regulated requirements in child care as well as workshops, support and certifications in topics relevant to working in the child care space in Ontario.     This program supports internationally trained health care professionals with finding a related career in Canada. There will be scheduled, facilitator-led online workshops and group discussions held Monday to Friday between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.  Next Session starts September 9, 2024. This program focuses on helping individuals look at career paths in the non-regulated health care industry where certification may not be required. Individuals will have the opportunity to investigate self-employment and access resources and tools to support their decision on this career pathway. Newcomers often face additional barriers when starting a business, and involvement in the program will provide knowledge of Canadian business culture, help develop social and professional networks and provide information on accessing financing.     Language Training at the Workplace (LTW) offers job specific language training to employees who are in need of English as a Second Language based on the request of the employer. Training is provided on or off the employer’s site. Training is customized to the needs of the organizations and their newcomer staff. Employers select the topics and language functions that are most suitable for their business environment. Flexible class schedules can be arranged to accommodate employees’ work hours.
