Promoting Health and Wellness in the Workplace

Home BlogPromoting Health and Wellness in the Workplace

Health and wellness is something we obsess over constantly at home. We are always telling our kids to watch what they eat, we are always challenging our partner to resist temptations, and we are always pushing ourselves to try harder, go faster, do more; so why is there such a disconnect at our jobs? Healthy habits in the workplace are just as important as in the home for any well-rounded individual.

Promoting Health and Wellness in the Workplace

Culture of Wellness: One thing which many companies are putting in place are these “wellness programs.” These aren’t aims to make work more complicated.. Wellness for your employees increases productivity, reduces absenteeism, and tamps down healthcare related costs for the employer.
Prevent: Vaccines, shots, and other preventive tactics on the job makes a lot of sense.
Exercise: Encouraging exercise can help get employees started!
Educate: Get your employees talking about healthy lifestyle and get them learning as much as they can.
RX: We listen to people in authority. If you can bring in a doctor to speak to your employees that’s as good a source as any!
Incentivize: Making healthy living a choice for yourself just because is a good plan. But giving employees an incentive to live healthy is another way to go.
Snack Attack: Your employees are going to reach for that 3 o clock snack. Make the choice better for them by offering up healthy snack alternatives.
Mental: Health and wellness is a conscious choice but there are also psychological issues which many of us carry around when it comes to fitness, exercise, and healthy living.
Deeper: Some employees may have far deeper issues with healthy living. As an employer offering up the resources to get that employee the help they may need can make all the difference.
